Breast augmentation is a cosmetic surgical procedure that aims to enhance the cup size of women's breasts by using prosthetics called breast implants. These breast implants can either be the silicone gel-filled type or the sterile saline-filled type. Both of these implant types differ from one another when it comes to their effects on the body.
The silicone gel-filled implants have been pre-filled prior to the breast augmentation procedure and they have been described to look and feel more natural when used. Sterile saline-filled implants, on the other hand, can either be pre-filled or deflated prior to the breast implant surgery. Saline or sterile salt water is injected into the silicone implant shells after their placement. Some patients reported that saline implants look and feel a bit unnatural as compared to its counterpart.
When undergoing breastfeeding augmentation, there are a lot of choices you have to make. Aside from choosing the type of implants you like, you still need to choose the implant size, the implant placement option, and the type of incision to be used in the procedure. Breast augmentation is not another typical surgery because this leads a lot of choices and responsibilities on your part as a patient which might as well include choosing the best cosmetic surgeon who can deliver the results you wanted.
So do you think you're a good candidate for breast implants? Do you think you can handle the risks and complications that may arise after the operation? Can you live with permanent surgical scars from the breast augmentation procedure? These are just some of the questions you'll have to face later on if you opt for bigger and fuller breasts.
Preferably, a good candidate for breast implants is a healthy adult who keeps tabs about the ins and outs of breast augmentation. By being well informed, she would be able to acknowledge the risks involved in the surgery as well as expect only the realistic exit from the options she has chosen.
Women who are having unrealistic expectations from the surgery are not good candidates to have one. Other women who are experiencing a great deal of dissatisfaction regarding their appearance are not emotionally stable to handle this kind breastfeeding enhancement technique because it may either lead to further depression or addiction to a number of plastic surgeries. Also, if others are pressuring you to have breast implants, you are not a good candidate to have one since under this procedure entails a very serious decision coming from within.
With so many self esteem issues occurring in most teenage girls, they may feel the need to have breast implants at such a young age in order to "impress" others. However, cosmetic surgeons are highly advising teenagers not to have breast augmentation. Why? Well, it's because their bodies are still under development and their breasts will continue developing into their early twenties. Another reason why teenagers are not good candidates for breast augmentation is this, they're not emotionally and physically mature to handle the situation.
Well, as well as pure breast augmentation, breast implants may also be used by women who have undergone mastectomy, a surgical procedure that removes partial or whole breast tissues affected by breast cancer. The breast implants used for breast reconstruction can either be placed during the mastectomy procedure or after it, depending on the type of cancer treatment the patient is receiving.
