In order to get that elusive perfect shave, the modern man should use a shaving brush. What is the perfect shave? An effortless shave that's baby smooth without any of the redness, irritation or blood that many men have come to expect. The easiest way to get to that perfect shave is with a badger brush. Shaving has three ingredients, a good razor, a good badger hair brush, and a good shaving cream. All too often these days, we forget the brush, and slap some gel on our faces, then rush a razor across.
The first step is to take a hot shower. Then, fill the sink with hot, not scaling though, water, and let your badger shaving brush rest in the sink while it fills. Rub some hot water on your face, the key to shaving with a brush is to make sure your face stays wet at all times. When the sink is full, and the brush is full of warm water, lift it up, and let it drain. Take your brush, and rub it in circles in your tub of shaving cream. Build up a slight lather on the shave brush, and then use vertical strokes to apply it to your face. Set your mens brush on the sink, handle down, and proceed to shaving. Follow the grain of the hair, and shave with a nice light touch. If you feel like you want a second pass, lather up the brush again, and use more shaving cream. Otherwise, you risk irritating the skin and causing ingrown hairs. When you are finished, rinse the brush out carefully, and store in your medicine cabinet with it's badger bristles pointing to the ceiling. That way, it can air dry and last longer.
