There is no other envied skin than the babies have. Baby’s skin is soft, smooth and flawless. As they grow a little older, their skin changes. Due to cuts, wounds and scratches acquire while playing and perhaps due to accident they develop scars. As parents, you only want the best skin for your children. And as much as possible, you want get to rid of the scars and bring back their baby’s skin. The question arises whether glycolic acid lotion can be used for children?

Glycolic acid is the mildest hydroxyacetic acid (AHA) that exfoliates the skin. It is a common connotation that exfoliating will lighten the skin and eventually cause the disappearance of scars and flaws. If you undergo exfoliating on a regular basis depending on your skin condition, this will hold true. Exfoliation removes upper layer of the skin and reveals a new one.

Normally, parents apply lotion unto their children. There are different kinds of lotion though. There are moisturizing lotions to keep your children’s skin soft and smooth; and there are preventive lotions like the ones protecting them from mosquito bites.

All lotions especially formulated for children are intended to meet their sensitive skin. Although you can use children’s lotion unto your own skin, there is a doubt as to whether you can use your own lotion unto your children. Remember that your skin, no matter how sensitive you are, is different from theirs. You have to remember that their skin is still developing and is quite weak compared to your’s. If you wish to know what to use on a child’s skin, it is best to contact a doctor.

Although everyone needs to exfoliate to eliminate dead skin cells, don’t forget that children exfoliate naturally. It is only when you advance in age that the natural exfoliation process of your body begins to slow down until you need chemical intervention to do the work. Chemical peeling is a big no for children. The best thing that you can do is to prevent the further damaging of your child’s skin and wait for the right time that you can exfoliate him.

The concept of application of glycolic acid lotion to your child may be changed when he has skin problem. This does not mean that you can apply glycolic lotion when your child has skin issue. Only dermatologists can identify whether glycolic acid should be applied on your child’s skin.
