Who can Use Daivobet as a Psoriasis Treatment?
The drug is meant for people who have mild to moderate psoriasis with less than 30% coverage. Patients using it should be 18 and older. It is not safe to use Daivobet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Because the drug contains calcitriol, people with high calcium levels should not take it. It is also not recommended for patients with kidney and liver issues.
What are the Risks of Treating Psoriasis with Daivobet?
Because the drug contains a strong steroid, the risks of using it are the same as using other topical corticosteroids to treat psoriasis. Side effects include skin irritation, photosensitivity, rashes, and headache. Other risks include skin atrophy, adrenocortical suppression, and cataracts. The long-term side effects have not been fully studied yet. Other phototoxic effects of the drug also unknown.
As with all drugs, patient should weigh the risks and benefits. Although Daivobet is commonly prescribed for psoriasis, it may not be effective for everyone. It is intended to control the symptoms of mild to moderate psoriasis, which can also be treated safely and effectively using natural psoriasis remedies.
